Science has never been so much fun to learn as it is with the new title from IBM Multimedia: The Adventures of Hyperman. Aimed for children aged from 7 to 14, Hyperman uses saturday morning-like cartoons with hilarious characters such as Entrobe, Kid Chaos and Hyperman to keep children's attention. The quality of the animations are so outstanding that I kept playing with the program to watch every single one. This is really something you have to see by yourself, because animations of such a beauty are found more often in a theater near you than on your computer screen!
Hyperman's goal is to teach science or at least, to interest children to science in general. The program has a storyline like an adventure game. Entrobe and Kid Chaos have been freed by Emma C. Squared's mistake in her attempt to solve the secret of the universe. The two villains who escaped their prison live only for destruction and their nasty plan is to mess up the Earth's chemical, biological and physical properties. As you play the role of Hyperman, an intergalactic hero, your goal will be to capture them and return them to their spatial containment.
However, Hyperman will need your help to complete his mission and that is where children interfere in the story. As Hyperman does not have a brilliant intelligence, children must help him and must use a series of tools to help solve several puzzles. The solutions found by the children will help Hyperman stop the diabolical duo before it is too late.
Some of the tools that are included are; a terrarium that shows the impact of elements on the environment, a chalboard where plans are elaborated, an electron microscope that zooms up to 1,000 times the images of plants, animals, minerals, etc, and an environmental status control panel with the player's score and number of years needed to restore the island's equilibrium. Hyperman lets children explore different tools in search of the solution of a specific problem the hero encounters. With the help of Emma C. Squared and children, Hyperman will prevent the Earth to be spoiled by Entrobe's plans.
The graphics are terrific with an excellent soundtrack that will draw kids into the program until they finish it! Really excellent!
