Finally, Namco has decided to develop games for the 3DO console. Starblade is the first title to be ported to the 3DO and for a first try, it is very well done. The game looks even better than the arcade version and gives you the possibility to play with textures for enemies and structures. You can still choose to keep the original look of the game without any textures if you prefer, but personally I find it more attractive with the new feature.
The game's action is paced so fast that it might give you motion-sickness after playing for a while. However, like the arcade, it is too short. There are only three stages and although they will keep you hard at work shooting at everything, the game can be completed in a short period of time. The good thing about this game is the fact that Namco entered the world of the 3DO, with every gamer having a secret desire that one day, they will produce the famous Ridge Racer for the 3DO.
Starblade is an excellent conversion and is even better than the original arcade game that will delight all the shootem-up fans and others!
