SHOCKRAVE DEBUTS FIRST EVER RIVEN-INSPIRED ONLINE PUZZLE
San Francisco, CA, August 26, 1998 -- Adventure gamers, "Myst" lovers and "Riven" fans alike will want to play "Riven Elementary," launching today on Macromedia's ShockRave entertainment site. "Riven Elementary," a challenging puzzle game for all ages, represents the first ever online offering featuring content from the best-selling CD-ROM game, "Riven," developed by Cyan and published by Red Orb Entertainment. The new puzzle's ShockRave debut coincides with the special release of Riven on DVD. With a variety of games and puzzles, interactive music and animated cartoons, ShockRave is unmatched as the Web's one-stop entertainment destination. "Riven Elementary" uses the mysterious, wooden counting toy found in the game's schoolhouse for a brain-twisting gaming experience. The toy, called D'Ni, is a tool for learning the numeric system in the Riven language, and gamers are tasked with deciphering the code. After 10 rounds of puzzle solving, the game ends and players are graded according to how many puzzles have been solved. The puzzles vary from game to game, which will keep gamers coming back for more. Players can test their skill in a "Riven Elementary" contest on ShockRave, where entrants vie to win copies of "Riven" on CD-ROM and other cool "Riven" merchandise.
