PLAYABLE HYBRID GAME DEMO ALSO ON ENHANCED MUSIC CD

Oakhurst, CA, December 1997 -- Sierra On-Line, the leading worldwide developer of interactive entertainment software, announces the release of the Quest for Glory V Soundtrack, now available for purchase exclusively via the Sierra Web Store at www.sierra.com. The launch of the soundtrack precedes the release of Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire, the Windows 95/Macintosh hybrid CD-ROM game due for release in spring 1998.

Award-winning composer Chance Thomas joined the Quest for Glory development team in 1996 with the goal of creating a musical masterpiece unmatched in the entertainment software industry. The resulting soundtrack arguably reaches that ambitious goal, and features a symphonic orchestra, richly layered vocals, classical guitar, harp, several exotic instruments, and the highest quality digital sound available.

"We are striving to redefine the standard for music that accompanies computer games," Thomas said. "We're talking about a film-quality score performed by a live orchestra and world-class musicians. It's a far cry from the blips and beeps of PacMan!"

The Quest for Glory V Soundtrack enhanced CD features:

    - 18 original musical cuts from Quest for Glory V:Dragon Fire
    - A playable Windows 95/Macintosh hybrid game demo
    - An innovative art and music kiosk
    - A $5.00 rebate toward the purchase of the game, Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire
    - A 12-page, full-color insert booklet of game art, photographs, and detailed liner notes from game designer Lori Cole and composer Chance Thomas.

The Quest for Glory series boasts a loyal following of game players who have followed the series since its inception in 1989. QFG's developers were astonished by the feedback of this group of diehard fans who insisted on a sneak peek at the music CD. Thomas even incorporated some of their suggestions into the final version of the soundtrack, in keeping with his philosophy that true interactivity begins by interacting with the customer.

As an example, consider the Quest For Glory V Overture. "The audience had an idea of how the overture should sound. There's a continuity that we simply had to preserve from the first chapter to the fifth." Thomas said. "We asked some of our users to sample the early tracks and requested their feedback. We were able to incorporate a lot of that input to enhance the musical experience from the gamer's point of view."

The Quest for Glory V Soundtrack is available for preview and purchase at www.sierra.com/titles/qg5/main/main.html. By following the "Music" and "Soundtrack" links, the curious can sample eight tracks from the album in RealAudio or MP3 formats. Customers may purchase directly from the website or call 1-800-757-7707 to order. Sierra also plans to release the CD to over 2,000 retail channels when the game CD-ROM ships early next year. The estimated street price of the CD is $12.95.

Set in the magical island kingdom of Silmaria, the latest in the Quest for Glory series is a visually stunning, super high-res 3D world, with scrolling scenes and changing perspectives, complete 3D rendering of all game environments and characters, real-time action combat and multi-player support for up to eight players (via LAN, modem or Internet).

During the course of the game's six missions, three different heroes must discover who murdered Silmaria's former king, and make certain the culprit is brought to justice, not so easy a task, since monsters - and rumors of same - prowl the countryside. Players will face numerous action-packed confrontations and combat situations as they battle hydras, gargoyles and others in an assortment of hero-busting villains, all in a quest to become Silmaria's rightful new ruler.
