Attack Helicopter Combat Simulation Game Marks Company's First Flight-Sim Release

New York, NY, October 15, 1997 - Continuing to diversify its award-winning entertainment software lineup, GT Interactive Software Corp. (NASDAQ:GTIS) announces the release of its first flight simulation, AHx-1. Developed with the expertise of Israeli military helicopter pilots, AHx-1 places the player inside the cockpit of the most advanced attack helicopter in the world. Capable of unruly devastation against its opponents while reaching speeds of up to 1.25 mach, the VIPER helicopter is the first and last line of defense for the United Nations in its goal of world peace.

"AHx-1 delivers an electrifying brand of game play that will appeal to both hard-core flight-sim and action fans alike," said Holly Newman, vice president of Marketing for GT Interactive. "By paring down some of the more minute tasks of flying a high-powered aircraft, we allow gamers to focus more on the combat and nerve-racking intensity of military warfare."

AHx-1 Highlights

  • New "TGEN" 3D rendering engine which allows for superior levels of detail, including satellite realistic terrain;
  • Intense combat laden missions include: convoy bombings, rescue missions, smart bomb firing ranges, tank, helicopter and boat hunts;
  • Multiple game modes including arcade and simulation allow for varying levels of realism;
