Slobzone is the first non-violent game that features a first-person perspective like Doom. It was designed for children to make them aware of environmental problems. In Slobzone, you are a member of the Special Undercover Dirt Zappers (S.U.D.Z.) and your mission is to bring Bob the Slob to justice. This villain and his gang of goofy animals have stolen the world's supply of clean underwear. Thus, your goal will be to first locate his secret hideout before arresting him.

The game does not use the Wolfenstein or Doom engine, but graphics are similar to those used in Wolfenstein. Of course, Nazis are not present in this game. Instead, we have animals that will try to cover you with dirt. As soon as you get too dirty, you will die. To prevent this, you have to collect all the trash you can find and trade it over for weapons like a water balloon, soap, and deodorant at vending machines. With these weapons, you will be able to defend yourself against these critters.

When you get dirty, you can go to the showers where you will clean up in exchange for money. Money is earned each time you collect trash, so make sure you find enough in order to stay clean! Another way to clean up is to find special items like a moist towel, an umbrella and a rain coat. For example the towel will clean up to 20% while the two others will totally clean you up.

In the game, some doors are locked with color coded locks, like red, green, and blue. If you want to open them, you will need the corresponding color coded keys (this principle is nearly the same for all first-person perspective games on the market). Finally, when you find the exit, you access the next level. Ten different worlds are featured in Slobzone with several types of animals from pigs to crocodiles.

Conclusion:

Slobzone is a funny children's game. Animations are decent, but not as fast as Doom, and graphics are a bit blocky as soon as you get close to the walls or the buildings. However, as the game is primarily designed for children, it should provide them with hours of entertainment.
