Consumers Can Reserve Copy of Game Before Launch on
'Odd Friday,' September 19

New York, NY, September 4, 1997 -- The buzz started a year ago and has continued to build. Now, as demand nears a crescendo for GT Interactive Software Corp.'s (NASDAQ: GTIS) new Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee just prior to its 'Odd Friday,' September 19 street date, GT Interactive kicks off its strategically timed pre-sell program at retail nationwide whereby consumers can reserve a copy of the game now and receive a specially designed hint book for the Playstation version of the game. The pre-sell program is one element of the company's $10 million global marketing campaign in support of the title.

"Response to Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from both retail and the media has been overwhelmingly positive," said Holly Newman, vice president of Marketing for GT Interactive. "As part of our ongoing partnerships with retail as well as in support of the product's street date on 'Odd Friday,' September 19, we've initiated a nationwide pre-sell program for Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, a title we believe has the potential to top sales charts."

GT Interactive's pre-sell program for Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is available at approximately 5,000 retail outlets nationwide, including leading retailers such as Babbage's, Egghead Software, Electronics Boutique and FuncoLand.
