Command & Conquer is the first real-time combat strategy game for the Sony PlayStation, and is also the first title published under the Westwood label developed for the platform. The company plans to release additional titles for the PlayStation in 1997. "Westwood's 'PlayStation Invasion' has begun and Command & Conquer is leading the charge," said Brett W. Sperry, president of Westwood Studios. "PlayStation gamers expect more from the games they buy, which is why we've jam-packed C&C PSX with 15 extra missions from Covert Operations and even created five more new missions just for the PlayStation." The original Command & Conquer has sold more than 1.7 million units worldwide, and is available on multiple platforms including MS-DOS, Windows 95, Macintosh, Sega Saturn and the Sony PlayStation.
Game BackgroundCommand & Conquer is a real-time strategy game set in the near future where two major factions, the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of NOD, fight for control of the world. Players choose whether to fight as either the GDI or NOD. Each side is equipped with its own specific weapons and technology making the strategies needed to win different for both. While each mission has its own objectives, players must coordinate a variety of activities including: base construction, unit production, attacking the enemy as well as defending their own base. In between missions, players are treated to exciting cinematic sequences that reveal more of the story as well as high resolution cut scenes and dramatic moments.
