ID SOFTWARE AND ACTIVISION SHIP QUAKE MISSION PACK NO. 2: DISSOLUTION OF ETERNITY FROM ROGUE ENTERTAINMENT
Pack Features Enhanced Version of Internet Sensation -- Capture the FlagLos Angeles, CA, March 28, 1997 -- Submerge yourself in a blood-soaked rampage in QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2: Dissolution of Eternity from Rogue Entertainment and id Software. Distributed by Activision Inc., this second official QUAKE Mission Pack, for use with id's QUAKE, will be available at retail outlets nationwide the week of March 31 for a suggested retail price of $29.95. In QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2, QUAKE, the evil leader with a thirst for universal dominance, has fashioned a world of chaos, pain and violence. Gamers must annihilate his minions through two hazardous episodes: Hell's Fortress, which depicts the darkest of ages, and The Corridors of Time, a historically warped environment set in a past gone horribly mad. Once gamers have navigated the slaughter strewn 16 levels, they can jump into specially designed deathmatch levels or play an enhanced version of the hottest QUAKE game on the Internet -- Capture the Flag. "There is a great demand for quality QUAKE levels which was demonstrated by the success of QUAKE Mission Pack No. 1," said Bobby Kotick, Chairman and CEO, Activision, Inc. "The developers at Rogue have outdone themselves by creating a pack teeming with action that will satisfy even the most intense QUAKE cravings." "Rogue has upped the ante in QUAKE with QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2 in terms of both the dynamic multi-player enhancements and amazing single-player gameplay," said Todd Hollenshead, chief executive officer at id Software. "We were thrilled to work with our friends at id on QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2, " said Jim Molinets, Rogue's "biz guy". "We added our own special brand of gore to the pack and gave gamers what they were clamoring for -- the Dragon boss and Capture the Flag featuring an enhanced grappling hook." Overrun by a glut of miscreants, QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2 features eight new monsters with a strong allegiance to their ruler, QUAKE, and a high threshold for gamer's attacks. The Dragon lets loose with two tons of scaly terror while the Overlord, a floating robed skeletal figure, spews out balls of detonating energy that extinguish gamers in a blazing instant. The monster roster also includes Wraths, Hell-spawn, power-packed Electric Eels with a brutal sting, and the Phantom Swordsmen, disembodied spectral swords that slash players into bloody shreds. Rogue added a savage stockpile of weapons including armor piercing lava nails and multi-grenades that 'split off' into five distinct grenades for an increased damage radius. Accelerating the butchery are the multi-rockets and the plasma gun which fires a plasma energy ball that impacts with powerful tendrils of lightning. A collection of lethal environmental hazards also awaits gamers. Pendulums swing a terminal arc and hack players while lightning shooters discharge a high-voltage attack. Lava nail shooters also assault with brutal force. Earthquakes cause levels to tremor with seismic activity while buzz saws dissect the survivors. For multiplayer fiends, Rogue invites gamers to friend-fraggin' action with normal deathmatch, team play and tag, because according to Rogue, "nothin' says tag like a face full of plasma." The pack also features an enhanced version of the hottest Internet gaming phenomenon for QUAKE -- Capture the Flag with all new one flag and three team modes. QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2: Dissolution of Eternity requires a Pentium 75 computer running QUAKE, DOS 5.0 (or higher) or Windows 95, CD-ROM Drive, 16MB RAM, and 40 MB Hard Disk space. QUAKE Mission Pack No. 2 supports VGA and SVGA graphics, SoundBlaster and 100% compatible sounds cards.
