The Best-Selling Combat Strategy Game of All Time Command & Conquer is Now Available for Windows 95 with Improved Features and a $10 Rebate

Las Vegas, NV, February 19, 1997 -- The best just got better for PC gamers as Westwood Studios today announced the release of Command & Conquer Gold, the Windows 95 version of the best-selling strategy game. Building upon the intense action of the original Command & Conquer, the new version offers expanded Internet head-to-head play, Super VGA graphics, smooth scrolling technology, and 100% compatibility with the Covert Operations mission disk. For those who already own the MS-DOS version, Westwood will be offering a $10 rebate.

A Command & Conquer Windows 95 Desktop Theme Pack is also included with the game. The theme pack contains cool Command & Conquer desktop backgrounds, patterns, icons, screen saver, and connection software for Westwood's online gaming service, Westwood Chat.

"Command & Conquer was already a great game," said Brett W. Sperry, president and CEO of Westwood Studios. "Improving it for Windows 95 was quite a challenge, but I think we achieved our goal. The significantly enhanced SVGA graphics, new head-to-head Internet play and native support for Windows 95 together make an even better gaming experience."

"For the first time, PC and MAC owners will be able to go head-to-head against each other in Command & Conquer, thanks to the expanded Internet capabilities of Command & Conquer Gold," said Steve Wetherill, vice president of research & development at Westwood Studios.

While each mission has its own objectives, players can opt to coordinate a variety of activities including: base construction, unit production, combat, and base defense. In between missions, players are treated to exciting cinematic sequences that reveal more of the story, as well as high resolution cut scenes and dramatic moments.
