Activision's Real-Time, Action-Strategy Title Lures Top Blizzard Game Designer, Ron Millar, as Consultant

Los Angeles, CA, January 21, 1997 -- With excitement building around Activision, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: ATVI) first real-time, action-strategy game Dark Reign: The Future of War, Blizzard's former senior game designer, Ron Millar (Warcraft, Warcraft II, Diablo, StarCraft,), has joined the project as creative consultant. The announcement was made today by Bobby Kotick, chairman and CEO, Activision, Inc.

Drawing on his depth of experience in creating compelling best-selling games, Millar will contribute creatively to Dark Reign's overall game design, including character development and mission building. The highly anticipated game will combine the best features found in current top-selling strategy games with never-before-seen gameplay elements that will set a new benchmark for the genre.

"Extraordinary games attract extraordinary talent and it's a testament to the commercial potential of Dark Reign that Ron is getting involved with the project. Dark Reign is the perfect vehicle for this pioneer of real-time, action-strategy games to redefine gaming limits," said Kotick. "Ron's participation will help ensure that Activision's first action-strategy game will be bigger and better than any title currently in the marketplace."

Dark Reign challenges gamers to the ultimate battle for galactic supremacy. Featuring player-controllable artificial intelligence, true line-of-sight, native Internet play and advanced gaming options, Dark Reign draws players into an engaging sci-fi universe where armies duel for interplanetary domination in more than 30 battles. Currently slated for a summer release, the Windows 95 compatible title is being co-developed by Activision, Inc. and Australis Microprogramming Pty., Ltd.
