Game has already Sold over 200,000 Copies in Germany

Irvine, CA, August 1, 1997 -- Total destruction and annihilation have arrived in the form of Interplay's newest strategy game, Earth 2140. Already having sold over 200,000 copies in Germany alone, Earth 2140 features the most advanced A.I. seen to date as the computer has the ability to change strategies to counter whatever the player is sending its way, never playing the same way twice. The game is highlighted by real-time game play, gorgeous 16-bit color, over 70 exhilarating, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat missions, and multi-player network action for up to six players. It will also allow computer gamers (IBM and 100% compatibles) to take over their opponent's units, buildings, and vehicles and blow them into the stratosphere! The fiery explosions and detailed destruction of Earth 2140 will bring warfare to life on PCs this October.

"Earth 2140 is already a hit in Europe and will take strategy games to a new level in North America," said Interplay producer Chip Bumgardner. "Being able to create units on the fly and in the heat of battle, makes game play incredibly fast and easy, this game is larger than life!"

Earth 2140 takes place in a futuristic war between the ED (Eurasian Dynasty) and the UCS (United Civilized States) clans with each clan having 22 units to battle the other. Earth 2140 is different from other war games on the market because of the need to use the majority of the all available unit types in order to dominate your opponent - the player cannot rely on just one or a few different types to crush his enemy. There are over 70 different vehicles and buildings to control and more than 50 missions - over 25 per clan, (plus an additional 20 multi-player missions) in which to wage war, resulting in the ultimate in replaybility.

The intuitive, user-friendly interface will appeal to all skill levels, helping ease the novice gamer into exciting missions while helping the expert strategist move around the various terrains easily and quickly. A helpful mini-screen which shows where resources and units are located is key to vanquishing your opponent.

Other unique features of Earth 2140 include the "bookmark" feature which marks chosen locations so the gamer may toggle between locations quickly, gamers are also able to group units together (up to 24 individual units in a group) and control their units and groups from anywhere on the map, initiating rapid-fire game play action. Players have the ability to create up to three "virtual generals" - each an independently acting command computer which has control over a group and will operate defensively or offensively until the gamer's orders have been fully executed.

Earth 2140 will be available from Interplay for IBM and 100% compatibles in October 1997.
