Best-Selling Star Wars Titles Highlighted by Exclusive Bonus CD, Making Magic: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Making of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition

San Rafael, CA -- Four award-winning Star Wars games, among the best-selling PC CD-ROM game titles of all time, are now available together in LucasArts Entertainment Company's second compilation release, The LucasArts Archives Vol. II: The Star Wars Collection. The package is highlighted by the bonus multimedia CD-ROM, Making Magic: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Making of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition. The disc offers exclusive interviews with George Lucas and a limited sneak preview of the digital enhancements from the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition, set for theatrical release in 1997. Purchased separately, the titles would retail for more than $150.00.

As formidable a force as the Rebel Alliance, the collection includes three classic Star Wars titles: Rebel Assault, Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire, and TIE Fighter Collector's CD-ROM as well as Dark Forces Super Sampler Edition. The highly popular titles have collectively sold millions of copies worldwide, propelling the Star Wars games into best-sellers globally. "The caliber of the four games included in The Star Wars Collection is unprecedented, appealing to gameplayers for its outstanding content and value," says Tom Byron, product marketing manager at LucasArts. "With the addition of the Making Magic disc, Star Wars film fans will consider the Archives an absolute 'must have,' too."

Making Magic: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Making of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition chronicles the various digital enhancements and all-new shots that will appear in the 1997 theatrical release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The interactive CD-ROM takes fans on a multimedia journey offering commentary by George Lucas and a rare glimpse into the world of Lucasfilm production. Included is never-before-seen footage of the infamous meeting between Han Solo and Jabba the Hutt on Mos Eisley, as well as various storyboards, historical photographs and production stills from the Star Wars trilogy.

Dark Forces Super Sampler Edition presents three playable levels of this best-selling, first-person action game executed in richly detailed 3D environments. The compelling Star Wars story is fraught with danger and intrigue. As Rebel special agent Kyle Katarn, players navigate through complex, realistic, multilevel worlds and harness the fire power of an arsenal of weapons including blasters, thermal detonators and assault rifles in order to destroy the Empire's latest weapon: the dark trooper.

In Rebel Assault, 15 intense levels propel the player- or "Rookie One" - from training missions through Beggar's Canyon on Tatooine to the treacherous trench run on the Death Star. In other levels, Rookie One faces off against Imperial walkers, stormtroopers and hordes of TIE fighters. LucasArts' best-selling Star Wars game features realistic 3D graphics, cinematic cut scenes and digitized Star Wars movie footage.

Like its predecessor, Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire is an action-arcade style game set in the Star Wars universe. Rebel II features an original story, 3D graphics and live-action video, some of the first new Star Wars footage since Return of the Jedi. Rebel II 's storyline focuses on two characters introduced in the first game, Rookie One and Ru Merleen. During the game, Rookie One faces a series of challenges as he struggles to discover, and ultimately defeat, a new Imperial threat. Gameplay in Rebel II features action-oriented shooting and flying, including hand-to-hand combat, flight maneuvering and cockpit combat. Rookie One pilots various starfighters, a speeder bike and even a Millennium Falcon -like freighter while battling TIE fighters, stormtroopers, a Star Destroyer and more.

TIE Fighter Collector's CD-ROM includes significantly enhanced versions of the original floppy disk-based games, TIE Fighter, and its first add-on campaign, Defender of the Empire, as well as a challenging new campaign. Features include upgraded high-resolution 3D graphics, enhanced sound and more than 5,000 lines of studio-recorded dialogue. TIE Fighter CD charges players to restore and enforce Imperial rule and defeat the Rebel insurgence. Players assume the role of a new Imperial Navy Academy recruit and put their lives on the line to realize Emperor Palpatine's mandate: Restore law and order to the galaxy.

Note:The Making Magic CD-ROM is also available in France packed with the Ubi Soft's LucasArts Collection
