New Course Architect and Multiplayer Features Open Up a Whole New World of Golf Possibilities

San Jose, California, July 29, 1996 -- Accolade, a leading publisher of interactive entertainment software, announced today Jack Nicklaus Golf (working title), a new golf simulation game for personal computers that lets you compete with "golfer of the century" Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus Golf features an entirely new course architect which allows golfers to design their own 18-hole golf course down to every last detail, including elevation, type of hole and overall course layout.

"Accolade has given golf enthusiasts a new, exceptional way of enjoying the game, while playing against me on some of my favorite sources in the world," said Jack Nicklaus.

Jack Nicklaus Golf will support multiple players via Lan, modem-to-modem or Internet play which will allow players to compete globally across the Internet. Players can team up in foursomes, or get groups of foursomes and play an entire tournament.

Jack Nicklaus Golf allows players to choose from up to four courses where they can experience unparalleled realistic game play: Muirfield Village Golf Club, Colleton River Plantation, Country Club of the South, and Cabo del Sol. In addition, the new course architect gives players the ability to create custom courses and use other courses from previous Jack Nicklaus games. The course architect allows you to create a complete 18-hole course, including sophisticated design with precise simulation of any terrain elevation and hole layouts. The course architect also allows players to import and play any courses from Accolade's Jack Nicklaus Signature Edition, including courses previously designed by users of The Signature Edition course editor.

"Jack Nicklaus Golf takes the entire Jack Nicklaus series to a new level recreating an unparalleled golfing experience right down to the smallest details like reading greens and weather conditions," said Jim Barnett, president and CEO of Accolade. "In addition, shot making and ball physics will set new standards in golf game play."

Other features in the game include an intuitive interface for exact shot selections such as fade, draw, punch, ship and bunker shots; swing selection where players can choose to swing easy or hard (with realistic results); practice and tournament contests; weather and course condition settings; and overview maps with multiple camera angles for full views of the course. Photo realistic graphics, detailed weather animations that affect game play, and beautifully rendered courses reproduce the game of golf in the greatest detail allowing players to experience the true look and feel of each course.

Jack Nicklaus Golf will be available in the fall for personal computers running Windows '95.
